New COVID-19 Testing Option Available for Guests Cruising from Ft. Lauderdale

We are now offering a new COVID-19 pre-cruise testing option for a limited number of fully vaccinated guests who are having trouble getting a pre-cruise testing appointment on select voyages. For voyages departing from Fort Lauderdale through December 19, 2021, we will be able to provide a limited number of antigen tests for fully vaccinated guests only at a cost of $100 per person charged to guests’ shipboard stateroom account. Reservations may be made up to 10 days in advance and testing will take place on embarkation day at the cruise terminal. Test appointments are subject to capacity restrictions and reservations are required. Click here to register.

New Mixed COVID-19 Vaccinations Accepted
Holland America Line has received confirmation that additional vaccine combinations will now be accepted on cruise ships, which coincides with the upcoming U.S. Travel Ban being lifted on Nov. 8, 2021.

Guests will be considered fully vaccinated who have received their final dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine, or any combination of two doses of an authorized or approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to the beginning of the cruise.  Eligible vaccines are ones that have been approved/authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or have emergency use listing by World Health Organization (WHO).  See list below, or click here to view chart.

Vaccine and Mask Policies Extended
Seattle, Wash. – Holland America Line is extending our vaccine and mask policy updates on all sailings through February 28, 2022.  These sailings will be for COVID-19 vaccinated guests only who will be required to wear face masks in elevators and in designated indoor entertainment areas, all retail shops, and in the casino, except when eating or drinking. Guests will be required to wear face masks prior to being seated in all dining venues and occasionally in other areas where larger numbers of guests may congregate. Rotterdam Caribbean Deployment Change, Winter 2022 Asia Pause
Seattle, Wash. – Due to mandatory COVID testing and safety inspection requirements for ships carrying passengers who are returning to the United States from international destinations, which must take place before the beginning of the cruise and in order to obtain necessary permissions to embark in the U.S., Rotterdam‘s first Caribbean sailing this November will now be a 5-day voyage beginning Friday, November 5th.  In addition, we have made the decision to cancel several winter-season 2022 voyages in Asia, including our Noordam sailings in March and April, 2022.  See the full Asia letter to agents below with details.  Rotterdam letters are being sent via POLAR.

Spring 2022 Return-to-Service Dates for Final Three Ships in Fleet
Seattle, Wash. – By late spring 2022, Holland America Line will have a complete fleet back to cruising with the restart of operations for Noordam, Oosterdam and WesterdamNoordam will restart with a March 14, 2022, cruise in Japan; Oosterdam will begin cruising May 1 in the Mediterranean, and Westerdam will return to service May 8 in Alaska.  With these restart dates for Noordam, Oosterdam and Westerdam, cruises in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and South America and Antarctica from January 2022 through the return-to-service departures will be cancelled.  Read More

May 2022 Return-to-Service Dates for Volendam and Zaandam
Seattle, Wash. – Travelers looking to get back to sea on their favorite Holland America Line ship can anticipate a restart date of May 2022 for Volendam and Zaandam. The ships will join Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Rotterdam and Zuiderdam, which have returned to service or are slated to restart cruising by November 2021.

Holland America Line will restart the two ships in May when Volendam will explore Northern Europe and Zaandam will return to the Canada/New England region. With these new start dates, the Grand World Voyage and Grand South America and Antarctica Voyage will not operate in 2022 and will resume in 2023.  Read More

New Updates to Onboard Health Protocols
Seattle, Wash. – In an abundance of caution and in response to the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 caused by the Delta variant, we are updating our protocols and requirements. We are hopeful these measures will be temporary, and we will continue to adjust our protocols based on the advice of our medical and public health advisors. We are also reaching out to your clients booked on cruises departing from U.S. port through October 31, 2021. Changes to 2022 Ship Deployment Schedule
Seattle, Wash. – Holland America Line announced today that two of its ships are swapping locations in 2022.  Both are Vista-Class ships featuring the same signature Holland America Line amenities. Westerdam voyages in Europe, departing May 1 through November 5, 2022 will now sail on Oosterdam and Oosterdam voyages to Alaska departing May 18 through September 18, 2022 will now sail on Westerdam.  New bookings on these itineraries will be closed until approximately July 23. In addition, three voyages – two aboard Oosterdam in the South Pacific and one aboard Westerdam on a transatlantic to the Mediterranean – have been cancelled and your clients will be rebooked on comparable sailings.

Fall 2021 Cruises to Operate with Departures from San Diego and Ft. Lauderdale, 2021 Exotics Cancelled

Seattle, Wash. –  Holland America Line is gearing up to restart cruising out of Port of San Diego in California beginning with a season of cruises to Mexico, Hawaii and along the California coast aboard Koningsdam and Zuiderdam. The cruise line has expanded the season with the addition of six new cruise departures for Zuiderdam and two new cruises on Koningsdam, offering a total of 40 cruises from San Diego from September 2021 through April 2022.  Cruises in Asia, Australia and New Zealand and South America through the remainder of 2021 are cancelled, along with the Collectors’ Voyages (combined cruises) associated with those departures. This affects itineraries on Noordam (Asia), Oosterdam (Australia) and Westerdam (South America). Updates Announced to Summer 2021 Europe Cruise Schedule
Seattle, Wash. – While Holland America Line continues to work with governments and port authorities in correlation with the phased resumption of cruising, it is canceling the remainder of the summer 2021 European sailings aboard two ships, Nieuw Statendam and Volendam. This affects cruises that were scheduled to depart from September through November, along with the Collectors’ Voyages (combined cruises) associated with those departures. In addition, after an expected on-schedule delivery from the Fincantieri shipyard July 30, Rotterdam will remain in non-guest operations until its Sept. 26 cruise from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. New Mandatory COVID-19-Related Requirements for Guests to be Completed Online Prior to Boarding
Seattle, Wash. – We are currently in the process of finalizing all required COVID-19 protocols for guests.  Moving forward, no later than 24 hours prior to sailing, each adult guest will be required to complete a Health Questionnaire, review and accept our Cruise Contract (which now includes provisions specific to COVID-19 and guest protocols) and review and accept our COVID-19 Risk Acceptance document.  Guests who do not accept these documents will not be permitted to sail.  You can review the documents here:

Summer 2021 Mediterranean Cruise Season Extended on Eurodam
Seattle, Wash. – Following a series of four cruises to Greece in summer 2021, Holland America Line’s Eurodam will assume the previously scheduled cruises of Westerdam that span the Mediterranean.  From Sept. 12 through its October 30 transatlantic departure, Eurodam will offer five 12-day itineraries roundtrip from Venice, Italy; between Venice and Piraeus (Athens), Greece; Venice and Barcelona, Spain; or from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Bookings are open Thursday, May 27, for these sailings.  Read More

Response to Canadian Transport Minister Interim Order
Seattle, Wash. — We are disappointed to learn about Canada’s decision to extend the interim order that prohibits cruise ships from sailing in its waters and calling on Canadian ports through February 2022 (one year from now). This extension, if not amended as pandemic conditions improve, would require us to cancel our Alaska (West Coast) and Canada/New England (East Coast) cruise vacation seasons this year.  Read More
